The Role of a Teacher in a Pre-School

The greatest sign of success for a teacher, is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist” - Madam Maria Montessori

Facilitating pre-school kids is immensely satisfying and being part in their early growth is always a privilege to any teacher.  The relationship between the kid and the teacher is similar to that of a mother and her baby!! Given such situation teacher’s aim is not  to make the child force  to memorize, but to ignite child’s imagination as to nurture enthusiasm. Therefore a child’s successful preschool experience is very much dependent on the way teachers interact with him/her.

Many a time we hear kids say as ‘this is what my teacher has taught me and this is what is right,’ kids consider their  teachers as their  role models, whatever information received by them is the final statement  for them, it is the belief that children develop within themselves.

We try to describe how the  following five most required qualities of a teacher also explains the role of a teacher in pre-school... (we feel following five qualities in a teacher are the most essential ones which explain the role of a teacher in pre-school)
a. Loving
b. Patient
c. Enthusiastic
d. Inspiring
e. Committed

The facilitator first looks at the comfort of the child when he/she first steps into the preschool and the priority happens to the utmost care that the child settles down with ease in his/her new phase of life. The education that teachers imparts plays a key role in determining the future prospects of their students.  The teachers provide the tools and the environment for their students to develop into responsible adults. A kid’s experience with his teacher can literally make or break his interest in education and learning. It is necessary for the teacher to always be ready to supply the desired help, but may never be the obstacle between the child and his experience.

The fact that, preschool teachers are training the innocent children to become successful leaders of tomorrow itself justifies the significance of the teacher.

It is the role and responsibility of a preschool teacher to instill a sense of comfort, joy and lifelong love for learning in the child. And this experience will forever stay in the lives of children as well as the teacher.

While the books can teach, only personality can educate!!
